Intensive and Supportive Outpatient Treatment
Our Treatment program is targeted for those clients who are starting their journey in recovery, or those who have had a relapse. First and foremost our drug treatment program allows for a safe and secure environment from active drug addiction, and alcoholism. Our level of care involves the use of individual and group therapy, psychotherapy, couple and/or family therapy, relapse prevention, education, men's issues, women's issues, grief and loss, anger management, depression and 12 Step Recovery program.
Merit FS program was developed to broaden each client's potential for long term recovery. We strive to educate our clients about drug addiction, alcoholism, and the physical, psychological and spiritual benefits of ongoing recovery.
Our approach is supportive, warm, and collaborative. We believe that the client/counselor relationship is important in the therapeutic process. We are integrative in approach as we believe that no single therapy is beneficial for everyone. We use various counseling theories and techniques to treat the "whole" person. Depending on your goals in therapy we may draw from, experiential, cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic, and/or systemic approaches. Our goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment that allows you the opportunity to explore the areas of your life that you would like to work on. We offer play therapy, art therapy, drama teach, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, focus therapy, and group therapy.
Addiction is more than physical dependence on alcohol and drugs. Many people use drugs to cope with mental health problems. They self-medicate in an attempt to manage mental illness, only to be left with more problems. Clients with Bipolar Disorder usually struggle with alcoholism. Alcohol is a momentary relief from depression that actually worsens the depression the next day.
Benzodiazepines like Xanax are highly addictive anti-anxiety medications that can increase anxiety with frequent use. Substance abuse is an unhealthy way to temporarily deal with stress. Our Dual Diagnosis program is focused on individuals that are chemically dependent, and have a co-occurring psychiatric illness. Both conditions affect a person's ability to maintain everyday living. This is especially difficult when entering a drug treatment program. To recover and maintain long term sobriety a person needs treatment for both conditions.
